PHOTO-CEREMONY ABOARD USS CANB Ceremony for the Unknown Servicemen of WWII and the Korean War, 1958. Hospitalman William R. Charette, who received the Medal of Honor for Korean War heroism, selects the Unkown Serviceman of World War II, during ceremonies on board USS Canberra (CAG-2) off the Virginia Capes on 26 May 1958. The World War II and Korean War Unknown Servicemen were carried to Washington, D.C. for burial at Arlington Cemetary. The other WWII unknown was buried at sea.
